why isnt my alternator charging my battery?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

was jumping my car someone hooked up the jumper cables wrong. smelled
burning. replaced alternator and battery. car now starts but the alternator is
not charging battery. Can any one help? Sherry 651-210-6176
