If they are just dim you have a ground problem remove bulbs and check the wires going to the socket with lights on wiggle and giggle the wires around if light brightens socket is bad.
Bulbs on that are easy. They twist out 1/4 turn. Turn counterclockwise. You'll see the 3 tabs that aligh to replace lamps. I have a 94 also. It's brighter now with my mods. I suggest a Morimoto hd relay 9005 harness. It's plug n pla sockets to the lamps. With these, just connect the new -pos and -neg wires from the Kit to the battery. The switch will still function as normal. This gives you FULL voltage at the headlamps. This is good, it takes a huge load of the headlamp switch also. Check and clean the two ground wires above the headlight assembly to the radiator support. Mine had alot of factory pain in between the connection. I cleaned them well. Note that those ground cables are of CRUCIAL importance. If one is broken or a bad connection, will make the car go haywire. Ive since added extra neg- battery to chassis and engine grounds.
In my personal experience the problem is not in the grounds. I have a 1994 Lincoln MK VIII and over time the headlights low and high beam became dimmer and dimmer. I inspected the headlight assembly and found that the chrome reflector was coming off on the inside and the lens looked dirty on the inside, As everyone knows they are a sealed unit. So I checked out used ones and purchased some off E bay to find out they had the same problem. I went to the local Lincoln dealer who told me they no longer make the headlight assembly.I disassembled the headlight assembly found the reflector and the inside of the plastic lens smoked. Reason the H 9005 bulbs create too much heat thus getting it so hot that the reflector and the inside of the lens assembly sustain smoke damage. I tried various cleaners and found nothing that would remove the smoke stain. In the end there was a class action suit which I think I received about $25.00 from. I researched all over the internet and could not find any lens assemblies that were new or in good condition but I didn't give up. Finally one night I was troweling E Bay and came across a lens assembly I had never seen before. The assembly was removed from a 1995 MK VIII . I paid a lot for them and I know they will work. It seems that in 1995 Lincoln came out with a H I D optional headlight conversion for the MK VIII. The big thing about all this is the lens are clear and have a different bulb in them. I would also recommend changing the bulbs to LED's . I am sure there is someone out there that has a warehouse full of these assemblies for pennies on the dollar. If someone finds new assemblies please let me know. dale-swpc-net@q.com
how to replace side marker lights on 95 Lincoln Mark 8
GuruCQ2Q7: You will need to remove the actual corner lamp assembly to get at the bulbs. Pop the hood and look where the lens edge wraps around to the front of the car to the edge of the headlamp assy. There is bolt you need a deep socket for. Its 11 mm I believe. Next, Remove the small Phillips head screw on the fender side of the lens under the amber section. "Carefully" slide the lens away out from the headlamp as there is a piece of trim holding it in. I converted the cornering lights to actual park and turn signals. A 3157 fits in, no cutting. I wired in 3157 sockets. Its much more safer and intersecting traffic can see my intended direction.
