What causes the 6 to run hot while stopped?

While I'm driving my 2004 6 the temperature Guage stays at the
midway point, but as soon as I stop at a light, the guage jumps up to
hot

Check coolant level. Low level can cause this. Also check that the fan by radiator comes on when car is at an idle.

I have a 2004 tribute Mazda and the sensation plug is loose and can't find out where it goes so can you give me a clue please
