Vacuum issue 73 dodge charger

Asked by Dodgekitty123 Jun 29, 2018 at 08:44 PM about the 1973 Dodge Power Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A/T, 400 motor. Won't run at an idle. Checked timing chain, checked hoses.
Just put new Holly carb on it.  Runs great for a while, then bogs down and
starts missing. No vacuum at an idle. Engine rebuilt by previous owner. Could
camshaft cause this?

No vacuum at idle? That would mean a massive vacuum leak somewhere. If the cam is really hot with a lumpy idle the vacuum would be low and irregular but not zero.
