I put a new starter in my car. It started up the first time but now it won't start. Sounds like starter not turning flywheel.

First check the the starter bolts again make sure they are nice and tight if they are there are some starters that need starter shims for the starter to make contact with the fly wheel.

Yes they go between the starter and transmission. I would start with no more then 3 shims and go from there. You may have to remove starter a couple of times until you get the right amount of shims the starter needs to start vehicle.

Question when you say sounds like starter not turning fly wheel is the starter just spinning or does it click out then spins or clicks out and does not turn fly wheel ?
