Hello mosquito-- There are several reasons why your 1996 Mazda MVP is overheating. Perhaps there is an obstruction in the radiator. Maybe you need a new thermostat. Perhaps the water pump is failing. We know you are not short of coolant. Have a pro look at it. It should be easy and relatively inexpensive to diagnos and repair. Good luck from Bovan.
