Santa Fe 2019 Spare key sounds an alarm and wont start car

Asked by teddrummer Nov 11, 2022 at 05:48 PM about the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question type: General

I could not find my FOB so I opened the locked door with my spare key I had
made a few months ago (not a FOB). When I tried to start the car with spare
key, the alarm sounded and car would not start
Yet I know the spare key works in normal conditions  i.e. when I use it when
the doors are not locked.  I finally found FOB the next day, but worried how
to get around that situation if it happens again!

The spare key has not been programmed so the security system would not allow the engine to run. The dealer or a smart locksmith can fix this for you.
