Car over heated while going 80 on highway, is back to normal now, will turn over but not fully start, is it safe to jumpstart it?

Asked by Jordan Jul 10, 2015 at 09:34 PM about the 2003 Mercury Sable

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 Mercury sable, replaced battery
last year, full tank of gas, has oil..
I've never been in an accident or
anything, I'm lost.
I turned my car on kind of and let the
heat run... Which made the
temperature gage go back down to
below the C(it was closer to H
before), please help me figure out
what I can do?
Maybe coolant?
The air filter started smoking white
clouds, checked it, no debris or fire.
The air filter has stopped smoking,
even when I try to restart it.

Sounds like it is coolant,do not crank it untill you have checked it,make sure it is full, but the bad new,s is if it ran warm there is a leak or coolant issue, may be you have not blowed a head gasket.
