Battery Drain? New Battery Dead

Asked by tom_merc Nov 08, 2020 at 05:10 PM about the 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About a month ago I went to use my car and the battery was completely dead
(no clicking at all). I assumed my battery had just given in so I went and bought
a brand new one. While at autozone I asked him to check my alternator and he
said it was putting out 13.8V? (i'm not sure what the units should be here) but
he said that was normal and that the alternator was good. The car started
twice more within the month when I used it but last week I tried to use it and
the battery was completely dead again. I know that none of my lights are on
when I leave the car. Im at college and don't use my car often which is why
there is such a large amount of time between things.

Sounds like something us shorting out (possibly a relay that wont shut off after turning the car off), cant guarantee that's the culprit but you definitely have something draining your battery when its off
