If i replace my old steering column with a new one
do I have to reprogram and I do have the keys to
the new steering column

keep the old column till you get the new working right, that security feature started about 1995 so you may have to re program it at the dealer most likely

My friend replaced the steering column in his 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, had to take go to the dealer to re-program key, $176.00 for labor time and tax.

I put a new steering column in my 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis and try to take it to the dealer to get it program but the machine wouldn't let it read it to program it what could that be

just use the old key and ignition thats what i did there is a hole in bottom you push it in , set the key to accessory and it pulls right out
