There can be head gasket or cylinder head issues and no coolant will show up in the oil. Is coolant disappearing and none leaking on the ground? Is the radiator in good condition with clean fins and clean on the inside?

I'd have the radiator pulled and flushed or replaced. If the heater core's bad, the radiator's probably bad.
