When the check engine light comes on with the key, car starts, then
when you shut car off and turn key back on light doesn't come
back on. This all started when I connected the battery backwards

oooo, good one---your alternator still okay? check all the fuses? the MEGA fuse?

Alternater is fine and all fuses good I replaced the 80amp main under the hood
