Mitsubishi Galant

Asked by Foreverjanie11 May 06, 2017 at 01:21 AM about the 2002 Mitsubishi Galant

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, it has 226000
miles on it, mostly highway miles. But there's a lot
of shaking, vibrating and rattling coming from the
front of the car when I'm stopped at a light, stop
sign etc. not sure if it's just because of old age or
lots of miles.

Hey Dandyoun. My eclipse has been vibrating for awhile when I am stopped at a light. I put it in neutral and it smooths out. But lately I have noticed it is vibrating as I am accelerating to get on the freeway? Do you think this could be caused from my motor mounts needing replaced? I have 106k miles and never replaced them yet. I see you have some good experience and advice for Mitsubishi cars.

I can answer this one. My 2002 galant was doing the same do I ordered the 4 motor mounts from rockauto and honestly it was a very simple fix to do. I jacked up both sides of the front end and replaced with the orange taller stationary Jack's. Then I lifted the engine to meet the new mounts with the hydraulic. Easy as making a cherry cheesecake. And definetly don't lose sight of those bolts.
