01 Mitsubishi Montero sport won't crank

Asked by Ashley May 19, 2018 at 06:24 PM about the 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 01 Mitsubishi Montero sport that won't
crank. Just put a new battery on it (the old one had
a dead cell). I'm thinking it's the anti theft system
or the starter, but I can't afford a starter right now.
Any info on how to bypass the anti theft system
would be greatly appreciated. My mom is having
the same problem with hers.

Before you do anything you should check the cables check underneath the plastic covering to the battery cables and make sure there's no corrosion mine was caked in corrosion and no crank no Start. I changed it out and started right up

Check the connections on the starter for lose wires, check the 100 amp fuse in the fuse box next to battery, its green. then you could jump the starter with a screw driver to see if it start . check battery connections.
