Timing belt. In 2018, all Honda engines went to timing belts. Stupid on their part but probably because they know they can make more money doing this. If this isn't true, someone please disprove it. This information comes from this website, a Honda website. https://www.buerklehonda.com/news/faq-honda-accord-timing-belt-or-timing-chain/ From that website, first paragraph... Does my Honda Accord have a timing belt or a timing chain? You can usually figure out whether your Honda Accord has a timing belt or a timing chain by checking its model year and trim level of your Accord. Many Honda Accord model years offer two different engines, which each have their own engine system to go with it. Luckily, there’s a handy guide. If your Honda Accord dates back to 1997-2002, it has a timing belt. If you have a 4-cylinder model from 2003-2007, you engine has a timing chain; if you have the V6 model from those years, it’s a timing belt. An Accord from 2008-2012 with a 4-cylinder engine will have a timing chain, whereas the V6 engine models have a timing belt. From 2013-2017, the 4-cylinder models still have a timing chain and the V6 models have a timing belt. Starting with the 2018 model year, all the available engines come with a timing belt.

Does the 2019 Honda CR-V 1.5 Turbo have a belt or chain?
It appears that the 2018 - 2020 2.4L and 1.5LT both still use chains.
Since 2018, all have timing chains.
