If it were me i would just keep that engine and do all the mods to it. from what i can tell it is one of the best engines for an eclipse.
Slap a turbo, injectors, MAF, ECU, Harness, intake, and exhaust on her. then your good to go for a while after, when you want more vfaq.com.
1st of all, the 420a is not the best motor for the eclipse. Second, slap in some forged parts and get a turbo kit. There's no real easy swap for the eclipse. 4g63 swaps are ridiculous unless u have the time patience and money.
the '95 2.3 liter might fit but i dont know much about the first gens.
hay thanks man that helps out alot but how many hours of work am i gona be looken at??
Wait, does this guy have the 2.0 or 1.8? I thought the 420A was a 1.8 back in 92, not a 2.0 and they only became 2.0 in 95. It's even listed in the Haynes Manual and online.
420a's didn't come out til 95. 4g64's are just the regular 2.0's. 4g63's are the turboed 2.0's. basically you wanna look for a 6bolt 4g63 motor. which are out of the 1g DSM's. 420a's are poop. grill wise? check sites. grill inserts you can find anywhere.
the 2.3's are stroked 2.0's that they put in the 2g spyders.
the 1.8 ended in 94. but they always had 2.0's. you understand that 6bolt 4g63t(2.0) were in the 1g's. the 2g's were 7bolt 4g63t's.(also 2.0) and the 420a replaced the 1.8's.
Well, you got a pretty good motor, the though it is a single cam, still a decent motor, check this site out. http://www.dsmtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68496&highlight=1.8+2.0 This may help. I check this site with my login ID, should work.
