Vandalization of a Remote/Key Fob

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My car was in a repair shop for a month and it got ugly when I had to take the car out of there to get the work finished elsewhere. When I picked up the car the remote didn't work but had worked the day before when I was there. I took the car to my local Nissan dealer who tried to reprogram it and said it could not be done - that the ticked off shop has destroyed the key fob somehow and I had to buy a new one. I had opened it before taking it there to see if it was just the battery and could not find any sign of anything amiss. Can anyone tell me how they could have done this?

they may have erased part of the brain, the one in the car by flashing it .out with their scan tool is possible!
Take them to Judge Judy and make them fix it 1 mounth to fix it thats not right then mess up the fob to. WTF
It looked like expensive proposal. Do you realy need that remote working.? Just use the car as it is for few months and then decide what to do next. Its not worth agravation
What was the orginal repair on the car for? I mean what did you bring it to the shop for?
I already ordered a new remote. The insurance will pay for it because the shop is liable. I'm just asking how they did it.
No, it was hit while parked on the driver's side door by the car parked next to me which was backing up.
Oh we did not know about any of that. I may have not even been anything that shop did. I have had fobs go bad before. I thought they were doing mechanical work on your car and messed up the computor or something
Nissan took the fob apart and said he thought the shop disabled/destroyed it
Hard to say then what they did. At least your insurace is takeing care of it for you
Aw well, this shop is busted anyway. The adjuster just came out to look at the body repair because the fished wasn't done right,. He said they put a used door on and the company paid them for a new one,
Isnt' life wonderfull.? We all have fun like that. The way i see it that: life is a comedy full of errors Take it easy and above all CHEERS
