My 2004 Armada's tailgate opens about a foot high and closes right away. I noticed this when we replaced the battery.

All switches work, but tailgate does not stay open.  I've replaced the struts and still did not work.  I recently unhooked the battery in case it resets, but unfortunately, it still did the same thing.  the last time it worked, it raised it all the way up and shuts down immediately.

Wow, I remember the good old days when you just opened a tailgate and then slammed it shut when you were through- when did trucks get so complicated? Was I asleep? Are these for real cowboys? Are there any real cowboys left? Sorry, time for my nap now-
