My nissan frontier has a lot of heat coming from the gear shift console. What is going on?

Check the insulation,under rubber boot,may have fell out,this will cause the boot to get heat from the exhaust.

No,want cause engine light to come on,is truck running warmer than normal?

Not that I can tell seems to be running normal. And it is actually service "engine soon light", not "check engine"

Service the engine,if you havent,allready,and if you have, reset that light> : )
