Can a timing chain problem cause problems with the valves

I was driving home from work and my truck quit as I was getting home. I tried to start it
but it wouldn't start. I took the fuel line apart to see if it was the fuel pump. I was
wondering if I will have problems with the valves as a result of trying to start it

Only if it jumped timing,
Usually when valve,s are hurt, the engine will strain to turn over, other word,s turn like battery is about dead.

The engine turns over good. I was wondering if by trying to start it that I hurt the valves.
Yes, if engine has jumped timing all ready, because it is and interference motor, meaning if it has jumped,it all ready has damage, first thing would be to check the timing before you do anything futher.
