Lexus ES350 driver door unlocks when closed

Exiting Lexus ES350, locking doors via door panel which locks all doors.  Then
when I close the door from the outside the driver door unlocks again.  I can only
lock it and have it stay locked by using the touch feature on the outside.

It seems counterintuitive but this sounds like a feature I’ve seen on some cars - (It’s purpose is to prevent the user from locking their keys in the car). If this is the case, you’ll have to either lock from the lock cylinder on the door handle, or use the key fob to lock the doors.
