Timing chain replacement

Asked by Melanie Oct 25, 2018 at 12:44 PM about the 2008 Lexus IS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased this used vehicle and the seller stated it was time for a new
timing chain.  I spoke with Lexus of Birmingham and they stated the car was
designed in a way where the timing chain would be good as long as the car
engine was good.  It didn't need replacing.  Now I'm confused.  Who is correct?

First off the Dealer wants MONEY!! Big clue if they are telling you that you need no repair!!!!!!

You can't trust most car dealers out there. I just bought a new Odyssey. I went to 3 dealers for best price on SAME model Odyssey [2018] with my Sonata Hyundi which was only 2 years old with 12K miles. The best deal beat the other 2 dealers by $3,500!!! First go to carmax for their price buying my car. Then I checked out Kelly Blue Book and another similar wholesale / retail price. Be smart save thousands!
