sometimes it starts  sometimes it won't

had similar issue, mine: turned over (had new battery) Alternator fine turns out - STARTER - is the culprit. common issue - local Auto parts - reasonable price

oops - one more thing- Jumping it wouldnt help (obviously) due to it being starter.
