Should I buy

Asked by SGT_Manny86 Jan 19, 2009 at 08:52 AM about the 1995 Nissan Altima

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am about to purchase a 1995 Nissan Altima. I am not sure what the trim is but I know it is a 4 cylinder Twincam engine.

The problem with the car is that it has 170k mileage.

It has new gaskets that were recently replaced.

Anyways the price being asked for is 3,300 dollars.

The interior is nice it has been modified some, with a DVD player and stuff.

I am unsure whether or not I want to buy it or not.
the 170k makes me a little iffy about buying it. But at the same time for where I am at right now it is really one of the only affordable cars with such a deal.

Concidering this will be my first car and I am not looking to spend more than 4k pushing it no more than 5k, would the 3300 be a good price for this car?

If it's your first car then buy something smaller and stripped down with fewer miles. Basically if it has a DVD player and you can afford it, then you need to look at something else.

i would look for something else you can probabally do a bit better than a 95 altima with a dvd player... 170k is not a great thing either...

if thats the case ill sell yu mine. i have a 96 Nissan Altima SE. its running about the same millage, but on a Nissan vehicle thats not really alot. Nissan quality can take yu up to 350k if yu give the vehicle its right mantinance. how ever i would ask for about 4 & 1/2 for iit but its in great condition.

For future reference check kbb.com You'll note that the guy saying he'll sell you his for 4,500 is asking about double the private party value, and that at best a 95 with that mileage is worth less than 2,000. And if you ebay nissan from that time period you'll see few have over 170k. Considering that is 13+ years ago, the majority should have over 160,000. They don't, Nissans have decently reliability, but anyone who tells you a car should go over 200,000 miles is talking through their ass. Few cars of any brand make it that far without problems, those that do are lucky.
