5speed Transmission

Question type: Car Customization

I'm building a 90 thunderbird. I am using all
88 mustang gt parts under the hood. I have
2 original OBD trannys, but would like to
put a 5 speed in asap. I liked the
transmission in my 96gt and it worked
awesome with 4:10s. Can I put that
transmission behind a 5.0????

Yes you can put a manual transmission on a 5.0. It will require fabrication of a clutch pedal system for your car and various other modifications. May require a different drive shaft and exhaust plus some electronics conversion. It could be done, but it will be a big job. What engine does your car have in it now, the 3.8 V6?

I'm sry. I know you can put a 5 speed in the car. What I was asking is can I use a 5 speed that came off of a 4.6?
