where is thermostat?

windows not defrosting totally so i took off thermostat housing on engine block and found no thermostat.bought 2 different thermostats from 2 different parts store and neither fit,too big.employee from 2nd parts store said thermostat could be where bottom radiator hose connects to radiator.

no on top raidor hose where you are at,make sure you are giving them the right engine size.

Yes, also I don't think that your thermostat would cause the windows not to defrost -- the engine will run cooler without a thermostat but at some point it should heat up enough inside to defrost the windows. It's definitely not in the lower radiator hose -- the thermostat is always at the top of the engine because the water pump sucks in cooled water from the bottom of the radiator and the therm. holds the coolant in the engine block until it is hot enough, then releases it to the top of the rad. to run down through the cooling fins and be drawn back in cool again.
defrosting does not have much to do with having or not having a thermostat. car will take forever to warm up without a thermostat. ask me how i know =]. try greg vogel at www.gspec.com . great guy. i get all my stuff from him. he can get pretty much any OEM nissan part you can think of.

What would cause a 2014 Nissan Sentra to run hot check engine light is not on and can not find it leaking anywhere but have to add water every other day r if you run it at around 80 it gets hot
