Has any body ever have a noice, chirping sound come from the overhead (map lamp) light?

Asked by gimedakeys Jan 31, 2012 at 03:38 AM about the 1991 Nissan 300ZX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

tThe sound is a high pitch chirping noise, sounds like it could be a fan maybe? Is there a motor for the rear defrost? The noise comes and goes but only when the key is on or when the car is running.

That is internal temp sensor. There is a fan in there and I've heard (haven't had to do this yet myself) that you can remove and clean it to lessen or eliminate the sound. Be careful as things are easier to break in our 'older' cars. Hope this was helpful.
