I want to check fluid level

The G6 does not have a dipstick. Adding fluid without checking the level will destroy the tranny. The only way to check the fluid level is to get under the car and remove the 11mm tap plug located near the front of the tranny. The fluid level is correct when it just barely comes out of the plug hole. With the plug out, slowly add fluid at the fill cap located in the engine compartment, until it drips out the plug hole. That's the correct fluid level. Caution: the car needs to be warmed up, and dead level. So jacking the front end won't work, you need to jack the entire car, dead level. It's best to do this on a lift

I have a 2006 G6 GTP convertible with a 3.9 and it does have a fill tube. It's next to the fire wall about midway of the engine... the handle it black so it blends in with everything else back there, but it's there...

The 3.5L and 2.4L engines hold 7.0L / 7.4qt, the 3.9L engine takes 9L. Those are the total amonts, when refilling after a fluid change it will probably take less. The service manual says to add 2L then fill slowly until fluid drips out the check hole. The fluid level check plug is at the front bottom of the engine under the battery area. The fill port is above that but also under the battery, it is accessed from the top.

Most times these vehicles are built in such ways so that people are forced to take their vehicle to a dealer to keep $$ flowing. They know exactly what they are doing especially the new up to date vehicles.
