Stiring issue

Asked by Tonygurus2019 Sep 09, 2019 at 03:41 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When turning my stiring wheel left it feels like I
have no power stirring and it take a lot to turn my
car.  Some times when I turn the wheel to the right
the issues would stop briefly and then continue to
happen again.  Any ideas and maybe a range of
what it would cost to fix?

Check the steering fluid level. There is a dip stick on the reservoir cap to tell you whether you have enough fluid in the system to function properly. I suspect it will indicate it is low so be sure to purchase and add the recommended fluid type.

The PS unit is mounted to the engine block where the serpentine (main) accessory belt is located. Find the cap on its top side to access the reservoir and determine the fluid level.

What possible difference would a new thermostat make for a power steering issue? And why would a person's ability to spell have any bearing on them asking a question here and expecting some helpful advice? And what does "Thermostat change it" mean?
