Its Strange...My car just all of a sudden wont start

Asked by mraristocratic Apr 04, 2018 at 12:58 PM about the 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday I jacked my car up because something was dragging underneath. My
jack slipped from underneath and now my car wont start. The radio and inside
lights would come on, but head lights or dash lights wont. The high beams will
come on, so Im confused to what could be the problem. It will not say nothing
when I try to start the car

Get underneath with a good light and see what the jack hit when it slipped. Shouldn't be too hard to spot.

Thank goodness you weren't under the car when jack slipped. My cousin lost both legs that way. Some cars have a switch in the trunk (most Fords do) that you have to switch back on "after a jolt" to the car. This is to prevent fires in the case of accidents. I once spent many hours and days trying to find out what was wrong with my car after lightly backing into a tree. Finally some smart mechanic just walked back to the trunk, opened it, found that switch and flipped it. The fuel switch is usually located over and sort of behind one of the rear tire wells.
