I am afraid of being ripped off by the dealer. They are telling me I have to have it towed in
$80 and then spend $30-$40 for the key and $120 to have it programed. Help please !

most aftermarket auto alarm and stereo shops can do it also but either way they have to have the car in their possession.
Here's what we had to do for '04 Pontiac Bonneville: go to the dealer with your car's title or registration AND your driver's license (to prove it's your car) and purchase a new key. The dealer paperwork/literature called this a PASSKEY III (PK3) key. Some literature calls the following instructions the "30 Minute Relearn Procedure." (DO NOT TRY TO START VEHICLE until completing ENTIRE procedure) Insert new PASSKEY III key in ignition switch, turn ignition ON, engine OFF (DO NOT TURN TO "START" OR CRANK ENGINE POSITION). Observe SECURITY telltale light in dash, after approximately 10 minutes, SECURITY telltale light will turn off. Turn ignition off and wait 5 seconds. Repeat this procedure 2 more times for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes. Next start the vehicle (IMPORTANT: you MUST turn ignition to OFF for 5 seconds BEFORE attempting to START VEHICLE). This worked for me.
