I have heard that there is a problem with the intake manifold gasket, is there any truth to this?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 2003 Montana Thunder, I was recently considering using it as a trade in on a Chrysler product.  The assessor noted that it was idling roughly and he thought it could be a problem with the intake manifold.  I just turned over into the 62000 km range, and assume that it would no longer be under the 60,00 km warranty. I have not noted any rough idling but am concerned that I could be looking at a costly repair bill.  Please advise my next best step.  Thank you, Ellen

Call your GM dealer and ask if there are any recalls on this product before spending the money. You are very close to the warranty and sometimes the dealership you bought it from will do something for you on a "goodwill" basis. The assessor sounds like he is full of it, trying to beat you down on the price -- it could be as simple as a cracked vacuum line or a spark plug or wire. Have a mechanic check this out and tell you their opinion.
