Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sometimes the vehicle won't start and you have to play with the gear shift and then it will
start.  Won't start in park or neutral.

Sounds like you have a bad or loose "gear selector switch". This is an electrical switch that the wiring harness connects to and is activated by the shifter rod. It tells the steering column ignition switch your car is either in "P or N" and that its okay for the ignition key to be turned in order to start the engine. It is located below the dash on the top side of the steering column near the firewall.

we had this changed and it didn't correct the problem. It seems to only happen when I have been driving the vehicle for a while then shut it off and try to restart it
