Rear shocks, Air compressor

Sounds like the compressor has a sensing issue and is probably failing. If you can't buy a new one there are probably some available in the used part dealers. If that provides no solution, you may want to think about replacing the air ride shocks with standard shocks if these are still the originals or just worn out.

I used to have a Lincoln that did that after having it towed. The culprit was the rear axle height sensor unfortunately they pulled the car into the garage without starting it because it was having engine issues, anyway after they fixed theengine issue the started the car and the rear airbags completely (and blowed out) before they realized what happened it was after the fact they found it to be this plastic finger switch (kinda reminiscent of how the plumbing works in the fill tank with a float ball minus the ball) that when the finger is pushed up enough itll stop the compressor when the car start to go lower from bumps it engages the compressor to keep the car level. Im not sure how the pontiac bonneville is desighed since it a front wheel drive but i would imagine a similar type or sensor would be present. So my question is how would i know for sure if my car was equipped with them without getting under the car to see. Is there way to find out using my vin number?

Where is it located

I am about to remove air ride shocks from my Chevy Venture LT model FWD 2003 van, and put regular shocks under the rear. is there something special I need to to do make sure air compressor doesn't run constantly ? I can't seem to find any answers on google so far.

Its sits on the left side of the rear tire (drive-side) , right in the open . (I know you probably fixed the problem already - this is just some info for the people who are looking for answers)
