Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Only when you are turning right is there a clicking sound like a playing card in the
spokes of a bicycle tire. I have had the cv joint and axle changed on both sides, no
luck. I had the bearing/hub assembly replaced in the driver side, no luck. I have had the
ball bearing checked and no play in them and my mechanic has checked everything
else possible under there and nothing is loose or worn out. He said he is stumped as to
what it is...any help out there

The only thing that I didn't see on the list was the strut tower bearings.

There's not much left. The only other thing would be that the replacement CV axle was defective.

The CV drive axle was new not rebuilt but you never know these days. But it still made the same noise after the new was put on which makes me think how can a new one make the same noise as the old one. Anybody in the conyers/atl ga area i will let you look at it

Take a look at the disk brake heat shield or any other small metal item that is near the tire. Also, are the tires and rims stock? I had a customer who's tire rubbed against the mud flap he had installed, only on hard right turns. Just a thought.

Did you ever find out what it was? My 2003 Pontiac Grand Am is doing the same exact thing. I changed out the cv axle but same noise. It would be a big help if you could share with me what it finally was.

The only thing i could figure out was that the mechanic had to use a part off of the old cv axle and it was the problem. Either I don't notice it anymore or it's gone...got tired of looking. I will listen this morning when I leave for work..you got me curious if it's still there or not.
