Additional symptoms and details would be helpful. It could be something as simple as a fouled spark plug, to something more troublesome like a vacuum leak, or something expensive like a map/maf sensor or IAC valve. When was your last tune-up? Do you have a check engine light?
need more info.. how is it when idling??? rough or smooth???
i have an 2002 that started doing this within the last year, i have been told its the intake, i'm thinking its more than that as i'm just about to 220k. between 0-25mph it chugs(spits/sputters), between 25mph-65mph its like i'm driving an 18- wheeler with a heavy load going up hill somedays.
do you run it on many short trips? try a longer trip on the highway to clear the heads.
i replaced the egr/catalytic converter which didn't solve the problem, then replaced the coolant elbow/valve cover gaskets & axle its like i have a new car all over, doesn't have that rpm issue anymore. now all i need is an oil pan & i'm good for 70k more miles.
I have a 1999 Pontiac GTP that sputters at idle and when I get on the gas pedal. Im also burning a lot of oil. it smokes out the exhaust it is a blue smoke. and my front three cylinders get oil in them any ideas.
Mike it sounds like ur valve seals are shot. When ur blowing blue smoke out the tail pipe it's oil from valve seals.
