Transmission problem

I have a 1997 firebird and all the gears work
but there is a nock in first gear.but after it
shifts it stops I checked the fly wheel bolts
and there ok t

This sounds like a manual transmission problem I ran across some years back, pulled the transmission and tore it down, found a chipped tooth on the gear cluster and a badly worn cluster shaft, found a rebuilt cheaper than it would have cost me to rebuild it myself and it had a warranty. So it was good news all around
