Is it really worth it?

I think its worth it cuz all u gotta do is get the oil change, tune up, new tires, fix the gasket and get a battery. other than that it should be good

Well, it depends. The 9K has become somewhat an icon SAAB over the years, so with the right settings i.e. a powerful engine or a special edition of some sort it's value will not drop anymore. It is also worth investing in a car you love, it will simply make you feel better. To look at it in a more pragmatic way it might not be worth the money if your only objective is to use it for some time and then re-sell. The 9000 is not the cheapest to run or maintain in it's class and if you don't know how to take the best out of it, appreciate a SAAB with it's pros and cons then it might be a bit troublesome in keeping it.

Well, it depends wether it's a good looking and nice car otherwise. It's a quite old car, and it was a reasonable new model back in 91, so I don't know... Any rust? What's the mileage? If your'e looking for a SAAB this old I'd recommend you rather bought a nice 900 (old mark). By 91 this was a thoroughly tested and relyable car, and it's nice, too. In fact I've had two 900's of the old make, and both were gorgeous cars. Especially the one with the large turbo, of course... I now drive a SAAB 900 '98, but it's not quite the same although it's allright all the same.

I have a 9000 1997 aero and have had it since it was 3 years old, Over that time I'v spent the same againe as i bought it for but had some of the best times in it and would never ever sell it and when you get it back find a quiet road some where and just drive it and enjoy dont wory about the money

is yours a manual??? mine is a 97 black manual. i have had it a year.. spent some money on it but it just takes good research to not spend too much repairing it

Yes and its black with gray leather. And yes you can go nuts with fixing saabs and I have a very tolarant wife. Do you live in britan if so saab flight around london are good

9000's can be sweet but any Saab that sits is going to have all kinds of problems, they were made to be driven. Also if you like Saab styling you should get used to working on them your self because most shops that can do good work will charge you heavily for it. How long did the car sit and how much moisture was in it? Because if there was a lot then you could have a lot of problems down the road with all kinds of electrical stuff.

It is worth!! 5 years ago I have bought my first SAAB 9000 CD 2.0i 1990. Previous owned did not invest a lot in this car - so I had to do that. After one year I have bought another SAAB 9000 CD 2.3 T 1991 to my wife - it had automatic transmission and it was great - I have sold it few days ago. 6 months ago I have bought myself SAAB 9000 AERO 2.3t (1996 automatic) and I think I was the best car ever made by SAAB. Right now I am purchasing another 9000 Aero (for my self - with manual trans. 1994) and leaving the other one to my wife. During this changes I have tried some other brands (jeep grand cherokee 5.2 ltd...) but it could not match the overall joy of driving SAAB. So your car is worth it.

Dude, it really depends wether you like getting your hands dirty or not. If you can do the work yourself and just buy the parts then you should be good because the large paart of your bill will be paying the mechanic. Find a junk-yard or something lol my 1997 Saab 9000 2.3T CSE is such a blast that i cant even consider letting go. I have timed it for 0-60 between 7.3-8.1 seconds and a manual does make the difference. I cant survive without one. The turbo is also a necesity its such a blast. Good luck on your decision, Saab is a more expensive car to maintain, but it is a well- respected car producer and they make great cars.

I say keep it. I'm on my 7th Saab now. ( 6 c900 and 1 9000) Right now I have a 1988 SPG (project car, modded, with 2nd blown gearbox) and my daily driver is a red 1997 9k Aero. All 5speeds. I love these cars so much. You have to imagine that the oil, tires, and tune-up are standard items that need replacing. How many miles on it? It could be time for a scheduled headgasket replacement regardless. Other than that, I'd suggest buying the repair manual from Haynes (Bentley it is not...) and having a go at some of the more minor DIY maintainence/ repairs. For those of you with a Saab running T5 or T7 engine management search Google for Trionic Suite, it's an open source tuning program. Once I get my 3" downpipe and exhaust I'm going to add the Stage 3 tuning to my spare T5 ECU and get and extra 50hp for basically free.

Ive owned my 97 saab 9000 aero 300, 000 + miles love it and its auto

bought a saab 9000 CDE 2.3 turbo 1991 model ,no rust ,interior is as new.outomatic. all the paper and is licened. the car is as brand new as if it was bought now,nice car,no problems at all.but I want a smaller car,what is the selling prize for this car?i live in south africa
