Where do u put pwr steering fluid? I couldnt find the canister anywhere
My pwr str light came on and then power steering went out. No problems prior. I think I may need to add fluid
There is no power steering fluid, it is all electrical. You need to bring it to a dealership or repair shop as per the Car Manual.
There is a fuse for the power steering motor or the motor may be bad. This IS a common problem with electric steering systems,check with dealer for recall information.
its most likely the fuse, when i bought my 04 ion i got it super cheap because the guy thought it needed a new steering motor but it was the fuse

JUST HAD THAT PROBLEM. BROUGHT IN TO GM DEALERSHIP. CALLED AND SAID IT WOULD BE 257.00 , had to replace electric motor. They called back in about 15 min later and said it would be free, because it was a known defect. Yay!

Ok y'all this what I figrd out about th saturn ion steering-1-theres no per steering fluid, it's electric-2-check th fuse(s), there's either 1 or 2 under the hood, they're no#42 & 43 (ea 30amp or no#43 a 60amp, can get at auto parts store (autozone)-n finally it's really easy to replace/rebuild th steering motor, to rebuild you'll need a 12mm socket n ratchet, can of (I use) autozone brake cleaner n a packet of die electric grease & an air compressor, tear th motor apart, blow out n off parts, shoot it all down real gud with brake cleaner, let dry gud n grease up bottom bearing real gud n put bk 2gethr n bk in, ifn ya but a rebuilt 1 I went 2 "the auto parts shop" online-it was $58.35 total, 2 removen replace pull out th lit'l "sunglass door" above trunk release button (squeeze sides n pops out) take out old 1 (2 12mm bolts, can c thru that lit'l door thngy) unplug wire n just reverse th process 2 put new 1 bk in(will b a lit'l oil 2 clean out)-oh n found out ya caint replace th brushes unless u have a press 2 remove th splined end, just have 2 spray em out real gud-ifn ya need anymore advice no#s (330)-843-2648 4 txn n gud luck y'all, it's actually prty easy 4 real
