I actually believe that this particular V6 was an original GM engine, the turbocharged version was used by Saab.

According to Wikipedia, the L-Series is based on the Opel Vecta B, and the L81 V6 motor is designed by Opel. However, it also states that it was used in the Saab 9-5 (turbocharged for this car) and 9000. The motor seems most famous from recalls on the Cadillac Catera.
