2.5 motor knocks when started

its a 2000 Subaru outback 2.5  it knocks for about twenty seconds after starting then stops. it runs fine after thirty seconds or so. I have synthetic oil in the motor which has 177.000 miles

Does the knock sound like its high in the engine or more toward the bottom of the engine? If high it's possibly lifter tick.

Typically this is due to piston slap in Subarus, and is not something to be concerned about.
