Impreza rpm revs high

1994 Subaru Impreza had new fuel pump
installed. Immediately after,  the rpms rev
unusually high when accelerated. What
could be the issue?

That seems like a very odd / unlikely coincidence. Try joining an impreza forum and see what they have to say about your issue.

Bad clutch if stick or bad tranny if autobox is first thought. Fuel pump issue may be completely coincidental.
