Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Suzuki Grand Vitara Turbo Diesel 2.0 1999
The water radiator is extracted into the reserve water tank after switching off the engine.
Have also tested filling up the radiator, switched on the engine and the water continuously
was spilling out.

as water heats it expands, a two way cap provides a release of water as hot and a return when cooling. a good cap and system constantly does this while driving and parked. After shutting down the engine heat soaks as its called and actually raises in temp. That's what your seeing . also this action is held to a set pressure by the cap relief spring tension to allow a smaller rad. to save cost of production as water boils at a higher temperature when pressurized . a good rad.and system flush never hurts for efficacy
