How high is really high? Some Audi's have more than one driving mode. I believe yours has at least two - Dynamic and Sport. Sport mode allows higher RPM's. If your transmission has a dip stick - check the fluid level. Check in at Audiworld.com and Audizine.com to see what RPM's you are supposed to be seeing and if there are any known transmission issues with your A6.
