Blown Head Gasket on 4 Cylinder Engines

To my surprise Toyota's have been know to have issues with Head Bolts coming loose over time and eventually resulting in a blown head gasket at approximately 105K miles.

It's a well know problem created by the use of an aluminum block Engine.

The cost to fix appears to be around $1500-$2500 depending on how one repairs the engine or replace it with a used one.

What recommendations to fix engine, because otherwise the car is great.

How did you hear about this "well known" problem? Many engines use aluminum blocks and they don't seem to suffer from loose head bolts. I heard the same story when there were iron blocks and aluminum heads. Sounds like you're being fed a story from a repair shop.
