How do you replace defective drivers side power mirror (non-heated) on a 2001 Toyota Sequoia?

You can order these new from Advance Auto Parts or other parts stores. Replacement is fairly easy but may require removal of the door panel inside the vehicle, although sometimes you can just remove the triangle piece behind the mirror, if it is a separate piece. I have done these for people in parking lots. They're not that involved. Most of the cost is in the mirror itself.

I've asked the same question that multitudes before me have asked. How can I disable the driver's folding mirror because the "gearing mechanism" is continually making noise when the ignition is on? I either wanted to pull a fuse or cut a wire (use of folding mirror is inconsequential). However, there's no reference to either. SO, I experimented, and after cutting three wires in the electrical harness (behind the triangular piece where the speaker is), WALA! noise (and function) are gone. I simply spliced the other two wires together and I have a functioning mirror for adjustment, sans folding. If you're going to do this - cut the BLUE wire. Given the numerous questions revolving this issue, why couldn't a Toyota tech make a similar recommendation. Oh, I know, they wouldn't get any money for their recommendations. Now I'm off for a peaceful drive.
