What kind of Frame does a 89camaro rs have? Mine is gone, and need to know if I can replace it.

Dear xenawp74-- All of the Chevrolet Camaros were built with on a modified unibody frame. The "modified" part meant that a large percentage of the heavy driving components were installed on a steel subframe, which was then attached to the remainder of the unibody frame. That subframe is the part you are referring to and you can replace it. Perhaps you could find the subframe at a junkyard. Remember that junkyards nowadays are usually networked with other junkyards around the country, saving you all that legwork. Connectors are readily available on the Internet. Have fun with your project, bit keep in mind that it may be cheaper and a lot less effort to just buy another 1989 Camaro. Good luck from Bovan.
thank you very much Bovan, I am considering maybe just buying another one, this was my first sportscar but I had to let it go due to finances, but I got it back thinking I could restore it and found out about the frame being rotted. It's a pity to let her go, but I will always have good memories! Thanks again so much for helping out with a good answer.
Hi xenawp74, I found a 1990 Chevy Camaro RS that I'm really considering buying; only thing is the unibody is shot. I was wondering if you had any luck with yours
