yes it will fit. i have a 3 gen camaros and one 4th gen. the 89 will swap to the 92, you might have to change the tail shaft?

also if the rs has the 700r4 already you should have no problems, but if the rs has the 200r4 you will need a cross member(or alter the original) and to shorten the drive shaft 3-3.5 inches as the 700 is longer than the 200.... good luck i did the same in my monte and it works great

Kevin it wouldn't have the 200r4 b/c that was the earlier year third gens. (82-83) - You guys are forgetting one major thing that would affect this.. What motors are in the cars? Because a v6 700r4 WILL NOT bolt onto a v8, and a V8 700r4 will not bolt onto a v6. They were 2 completely different bolt patterns, so in order to mix and match you would have to swap out the entire bell-housing which is more work than you'll want to do since 700r4s were/are common as dirt to find the right one you need. and I'm quite certain there are a few other things you would have to change as well.

Thanks Sean for clarifying that point, i was just thinking it was a possibility seeing as my 87 Monte had that, and that tranny also came in the SS. thanks though

good poin sean, didnt think to ask. mabey speedo cable and throttle valve also compared to others it should be a very easy swap tho. if its already a v8 700 it will be cake, had trouble with one of the 6 bolts to the motor on mine but with a little patience and a few ciggaretts she was out

the only problem might be the rear transmission mount, you might have to change it.
