There are several good electric fuel pumps out there. Watch for the GPM {gallon per minute} is the key, not the high pressure as some thinks of. You will need to catch the gas in a bucket so you don't have to lay in it. It shouldn't be a lot. Find a place where it is easy to cut the gas line, Get your pump ready to install. Here is what I have done in the past. I get the brass fittings ready, measure the cut needed, clean the fuel line with sand paper, put the brass fittings on the line, install the fuel pump, {You will have to bend the gas line away from the frame some in a "Z" to be able to start the fittings to the pump.
Have to drop the tank. My buddy has a 86camaro and thats the only way to get to the fuel pump.
Oh the 88 and 86 are the same body style.
The aftermarket fuel pump does not go in the tank. It attachces to the frame or underneath the car. Your old pump remains in the tank. But if you like to work hard, have fun dropping the tank. You will need a good set of jack stands. Oh by the way, my version or the stock pump is about the same price.
no you have to drop the tank & disconnect the exhaust pipe from the hanger and rest it on a jack stand or something.
