Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I just got a 1966 chevelle it was running fine i took it out the other day and as i
was stopped it just shut off, tried to start it and won't even turn over. Also my
headlight won't come on and the little clock on the dash stopped working, so
obviously its not getting power i just don't know what to check. I bought a new
battery and still no change any ideas of what to check? I can check the starter
but would that affect the lights and clock?? little confused and in need of help.
thank you,

has been modified, it was a old drag car so battery has been relocated to the trunk. Ground seems to be tight down. I will have to check the starter connection, that was my original thought but wasn't sure.

Also would a bad connection at the starter affect the light and clock?

Believe i found the problem, one of the wires to the starter was touching the exhaust and melted the wire through. gonna put a new wire in and see if it works.

Got the wire replaced and it started right up, thanks for the help.
It's great when the problem turns out to be something simple.
